Materials
To assure the vibrancy and longevity of your print, we only use the finest materials available for
digital printers today. According to Wilhelm Research, the
pre-eminent organisation for such matters, the materials we use should retain their colour vibrancy
for around 75 years, as long as the prints are well looked after.Inks
All our wide format giclée prints are produced on wide carriage Epson printers using Epson
Ultrachrome pigment based inks.Paper
We use one type of canvas and two types of paper for artwork prints, plus a third type of paper for
photographic prints. All of these papers are provided by the Hahnemühle factory in Germany.
Hahnemühle have been making artist paper since 1560. They use the same moulds, the same
techniques and put the same level of care and attention into their ditigal print paper as they have
always done with their artist paper.German Etching Paper
Hahnmühle's flagship digital art product is their 310gsm mould-made acid free German Etching Paper,
made from 100% TCF (the finest and purest part of a tree). As the name suggests, this paper has a
surface very similar to artists etching paper, the smoothest of any in the Hahnemühle range.
For most digital fine art applications, this product offers the perfect combination of colour gamut,
vibrance, detail, longevity, smoothness, whiteness and water resistance.William Turner Artists Paper
Hahnmühle's 310gsm William Turner paper is mould made from 100% rag. It may not quite match German
Etching Paper for colour gamut, vibrancy, longevity, whiteness or smoothness, but it is more robust
and less likely to tear, scratch or fray.Torchon Artists Paper
Hahnmühle's 285gsm artist paper has a pastel cum parchement surface. Torhcon is mould made from
100% rag, and is treated with optical brighteners to make it exceptioanally white. Some believe that
this makes it better suited to fine art watercolour reproductions - paper whiteness can be important
in reproducing white and very pale colours on digital prints because these colours are created by
allowing the background media colour to show through.

Canvas
We use Sihl's 340gsm true artists canvas, made in Switzerland. It is 100% cotton, identical to artist's
cotton canvas, but treated on one side for inkjet aborption. It creates superb oil painting
reproductions capable of showing all of the colour vibrancy and detail, plus much of the texture,
of the original.Photo Rag
For photographic prints only, we also offer Hahnmühle's 308gsm 100% rag Photo Rag paper.
This paper has a smooth calendared surface and has been treated with optical brighteners, to make
it ideal for reproducing the detail and colour of high quality photographs.Mounting and Stretching
For your convenience, our paper prints are left unmounted, allowing you to choose the ideal frame and
mount to suit the environment in which the print is going to hang. Our canvas prints are always
stretched on kiln dried pine stretcher bars. The stretcher bars have mount points, so you can choose
whether to have them framed or to hang them without frames.Protective coating
The Hahnemühle media and Epson inks we use are all water resistant to some extent. If they are well
looked after and hung in moderately dry conditions, they should last for 75 years. If you are
concerned about their water resistance or ultra-violet light resistance, they can be coated with a
protective spray. Some believe that this is unnecessary and others believe that it detracts from the
quality of the print, leaving a slight mistiness. The choice is yours.Lamination
If you know that your print is going to be exposed to direct sunlight or moisture for long periods,
your print can be laminated to provide full water resistance and UV protection. Some believe that
laminating seriously detracts from the quality of the print, masking much of the detail and texture.Sizes
The prints are available in different sizes depending on the size of the actual painting. The most
popular size options are available in the "drop" down menu. If you want a particular size and it is
not available, please contact us, by pressing the Contact Us link above and filling in the Contact form,
so that we can discuss your requirements with you.
