About RSS
What is RSS
RSS is an easy way automatically to keep up to date with new information being published on your favourite websites. Instead of having to visit the websites, RSS regularly brings the information to you, including any updates there might have been. RSS works over the Internet, but RSS feeds cannot be accessed directly from a standard browser such as Microsoft Explorer or Netscape Navigator. Instead, you need an RSS Reader.

RSS Readers
The word 'directly' is italicised in the paragraph above, because most people do read RSS information through their everyday browser. The conversion is done for them by a server based RSS Reader. If you are not confident about downloading or installing software on your PC, this is the route to go. You just have to subscribe to a server based RSS Reader service. We recommend bloglines, as a simple, free and perfectly adequate starting point.

The alternative, for techies and the blog-obsessed, is to install an RSS Reader directly on your computer. Confusingly, to differentiate server based RSS Readers from desktop RSS Readers, the latter are usually called 'Desktop Aggregators'. If you are hooked on RSS feeds and want to install a Desktop Aggregator on your computer, we have listed a small selection of free Desktop Aggregators in the righthand column. The most comprehensive list we know of is here. Note that Desktop Aggregators may not work if you are part of a corporate network - you need to ask your IT people about 'RSS' or 'accessing XML data through Proxy Servers'.

About the Resex RSS feed
The Resex RSS feed is a schedule of Art Exhibitions in the UK, interleaved occasionally by new images we have recently made available for giclée prints.

Once you have an RSS Reader, you must plug in our 'syndication' address, which is:
http://www.resex.co.uk/ImageResexFeed.xml
This is usually achieved simply by copying and pasting the link behind the orange XML button at the bottom of the home page. This, Valid RSS feed, is a copy of it that you can syndicate to from here.

What other RSS feeds may be of interest
There are literally hundreds of thousands of RSS feeds, covering a vaste array of subjects. If you are interested in the Arts, the most useful professional RSS feeds are probably those from the BBC, syndicated here Valid RSS feed, and The Daily Telegraph, syndicated here Valid RSS feed.

Most RSS feeds are personal Web logs (blogs), many of which are about specific subjects, such as the Arts. To find blogs that might be of interest to you, search them by subject at Fagan finder or Feedster, for example.

Once you have found blogs you are interested in, you can syndicate to them at Syndic8, moreover, or NewsIsFree, among others.
